Policies

Inclusivity

Our school commits to being inclusive to all students regardless of their physical or mental ability. We’re working to build this inclusive capacity so that all children can access their education in Gaelic.

Anti-bullying

Our welcome environment protects our students from bullying in all forms as well as establishes clear and consistent protocols to be followed should bullying occur.

Media and Communications

Communications and media are components of our every day lives, and it is important for us that families and school stakeholders are prepared and have a clear set of expectations of how we handle media.

Abuse Prevention

We are to committed to creating a welcoming and nurturing environment that has zero tolerance for those whose actions may jeopardize the safety, health, or innocence of those in the school’s care.

Diversity

We are committed to providing a safe place for all staff, children and families regardless of race, gender expression, religion, sexual orientation, place of origin or ability.

Community

Taigh Sgoile na Drochaide was conceived by community need and desire, and the community has come together to create this school. We see community integration as an important port of learning.

Environment and Sustainability

An important part of our learning environment is the natural world and we have thought about how we ensure that both the school and natural environment are safe, clean, and sustainable spaces our students.

Language

We strive to facilitate the complete and fluid acquisition of Gaelic and are dedicated to the growth and development of the Gaelic speaking community of Nova Scotia.

Volunteers

We rely on volunteer support to make our dream of a Gaelic immersion school rooted in community. This volunteer spirit is also a value and learning opportunity we extend to our children.

Behaviour

All students in the school are treated equally. We set this policy with the goal of preventing inappropriate behaviours and encouraging positive relationships between students.

Handling Incidents of Alleged Abuse

We recognize our responsibility to ensure that students are protected from abuse and neglect in any form while at school and/or under the supervision of school employees.
